杨丕源 Yang Piyuan returned to Ayutthaya in Thailand. This was his first trip out of Malaysia after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Upon arrival at Don Mueang Airport, the took the Thai Metro to the largest train station in Southeast Asia the Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal in Bangkok (once known as the Bang Sue Grand Station). There, he saw signboards of HSR (High Speed Rail) marking the gates for the anticipated fast trains. As of 2022CE, Thailand has no high speed trains yet. However, the rail to China had been in operation in Laos - from Vientiane to Kunming in Yunnan.
He also visited the Kanchanaburi railway bridge and took a train ride along the British built railway during World War II. There he met a Japanese visitor.
He also stayed a night at a floating hut along the River Kwai.
On this trip he also had coffee at a market where the train would run through.
This was the year when 杨丕源 Yang Piyuan volunteered to teach English at a school in Van Vieng, Laos. To get from Vientiane to Vang Vieng, he took the China-Laos Railway which ran all the way to Kunming in Yunnan.
One Sunday, in Vang Vieng in Communist Laos, 杨丕源 Yang Piyuan attended a church. He also climbed the to the highest point in the area of the school he volunteered in - the Nam Xay Viewpoint. The path was wet and steep. At almost 60 years of age, he took his time. Along the climb up, he encountered tourists from Thailand who encouraged him. Before reaching the peak, there were jagged karst which increased the difficulty of the climb. The Thai girls who reached the peak about an hour before him applauded his success in scaling to the top.
On the last night of their stay, the volunteer teachers were treated to a traditional Laotian dinner.
Later that year, 杨丕源 Yang Piyuan flew to Hanoi and from there took a van to Halong Bay, another World Heritage Site. The van stopped at many spots along the way as not only carried passengers but deliveries / parcels as well. From Halong Bay, he returned to Hanoi by road. He then flew to Danang (his second visit) and called a ride (online) to get to Hoi An. There, he watched the enchanting Hoi An Memories Show. Then, he took the Saigon Express to Nha Trang, spent a night there and proceeded to Ho Chih Minh (his third trip to the capital). He flew back to Malaysia from Ho Chih Minh.
Toward the end of the year, 杨丕源 Yang Piyuan visited Krabi in Thailand. On this island, he took weeds (in the form of cookies). .
