杨丕源 1994 CE

杨丕源 Yang Piyuan travelled to the United States for the second time in his life. This time he visited Las Vegas. He also visited the Hoover Dam and walked across from the state of Nevada to the state of Arizona. He was so excited that he had seen the Grand Canyon. However, he was mistaken.

Yes, he saw the Colorado River that created the Grand Canyon, because the Hoover Dam straddles the river. However, he was on the part of the river where it had carved the Black Canyon (Note: there is another Black Canyon formed by the Gunnison River in the state of Colorado). The Grand Canyon is located further downstream of the Colorado River, entirely in the state of Arizona.

In addition to the Hoover Dam, he also visited the Eagle Mountain Mine and was driven through parts of the Mojave Desert. The Eagle Mountain Mine provided him with a "ghost town" experience. Many of the buildings and remnants of the old iron ore mine were in various stages of decay, offering an eerie, yet fascinating, atmosphere. On the Mojave Desert, sitting at the back of a Toyota Camry driven by his US colleague one night, he looked up to the dark sky and was filled with wonder. There, for the first time of his life, he was presented with a multitude of stars, twinkling in the sky.

On the flight back from the United States, 杨丕源 Yang Piyuan had a stopover in 香港 Xianggang / Hong Kong. There, he visited the renowned Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok. What attracted him was the multitude of signboards that hung over the road. The overhanging signboards reminded him of the Hong Kong action movies that he had watched.

In 2016 CE 杨丕源 Yang Piyuan would visit Mong Kok in 香港 Xianggang / Hong Kong again..

This is the year the 元谋人 Yuanmou Man was discovered in 云南 Yunnan, China was taken 1.7 million years back into the past.

This is also the year 杨利伟 Yang Liwei was born in 辽宁 Liaoning, China. He would become the first Chinese to go to space.
