杨丕源 Yang Piyuan developed a feeling for 刘丽珠 Liu Lizhu, a fellow classmate. They were both in the same class Primary Year 6 class and both were members of the Prefectorial Board. The feeling was one that was mutual.
The Prank
杨丕强 Yang Piqiang, his elder cousin, had shared capsules of stinky bombs - containing liquid hydrogen sulfide and itchy powder. Being a mild (some would describe him as timid) young boy, he did not throw the glass capsules to break and create a stinky situation nor did he hurl the powder on others. He did, however, brought them to school to show off. A naughtier friend of his took his itchy powder and played around - sprinkling them on 刘丽珠 Liu Lizhu. The terrible itch hurt and annoyed her and she cried in front of him. However, being attracted to him, the angry emotions she had for him did not persist. However, the class teacher was informed and he punished both the offender and the person who brought the prank items to school.
杨丕源 Yang Piyuan received twice the number of caning on his palm. It waw because being a prefect he should have led by example. Insteal, he was the cause of the incident.

The other caning that 杨丕源 Yang Piyuan got that year was from his father.
China had since become a republic a little over half a century ago. In other words, it had been 52 years since the last Emperor, Puyi 爱新觉罗·溥仪, abdicated his throne.

兔 is a 象形字 pictogram. There is a great similarity between the 甲骨文 oracle bone character and the character 兔.
It originated in the Shang 商 Dynasty during which a lot of oracle bones were used.The photo shows the oracle bones character 甲骨文 of the rabbit..
It is estimated that there are about 50,000 Chinese characters. However, some say the acquisition of about 1,000 characters should be enough for communication purposes. It is also estimated that only about 5% of chinese characters are pictograms. Most are 形声字 phonosemantic compounds where part of the character indicates meaning and another part suggests pronunciation.
