Known in Chinese as Chang San Jiao (长三角), this economic and
cultural powerhouse encompasses the vibrant municipality of 上海
Shanghai, the provinces of 江苏 Jiangsu and 浙江 Zhejiang, and
often extends into parts of 安徽 Anhui.

He visited the classical 苏州 Suzhou gardens (recognised as a UNESCO
World Heritage Site), cruised the grand canal, stayed at the
ancient water town of 周庄 Zhouzhuang with its stone bridges, and
explored the 西湖 West Lake in Hangzhou.
