浙江 Zhejiang (No. 22 on the Map above) is a coastal province on the eastern seaboard of China’s mainland (East China region). It borders:
- 上海 Shanghai Municipality (III) and 江苏 Jiangsu (12) to the north
- 安徽 Anhui (1) and 江西 Jiangxi (13) to the west
- 福建 Fujian (2) to the south
The 东海 East China Sea to the east, including its offshore 舟山群岛 Zhoushan Archipelago — China’s largest island group — along a coast lined with more than 3,000 islands, the most of any Chinese province.
Its northern shore is indented by 杭州湾 Hangzhou Bay, famed for the 钱塘江潮 Qiantang tidal bore, and its territory runs south to 苍南 Cangnan (温州 Wenzhou), where it meets 福建 Fujian (2) on the coast..

嘉义是通往阿里山的重要门户。阿里山森林铁路，一条有百年历史的登山铁路，从这里开始。
清朝（康熙皇帝统治时期）建立了“朱罗山”作为防御城墙。这标志着嘉义的成立。公元1787年，乾隆皇帝将嘉义更名为嘉义，意思是“赞 美正 义”，以纪念其公民的忠诚。
