1882 CE

The town on the banks of the Perak River was named Anson Bay (Telok Anson) in honour of the town designer and architect Sir Archibald Anson upon his retirement. Word of the new township travelled all the way to Quanzhou and many in the province of 福建 Fujian were driven to migrate south to the 南洋 Nanyang.

In the province of 山西 Shanxi, 戴应新 Dai Yingxin investigated the Neolithic site of 石峁遗址 Shimao.

The Chinese Character 汉子

The character 根 gēn means roots. Just like the character 杨 Yáng, 根 gēn also has the 木 mù tree radical. The other component 艮 gěn means stubborn but plays the phonetic part of the character.
