Yang Wenyi: Lao Ba just posted photos in the group.
Yang Wenqi: Is that Dongshan Island? The one in Fujian, our ancestral province?
Yang Wenyi: Yup. Look at the caption: FAQ - Fujian Ancestral Quest: Dongshan Island.
Yang Wenqi: There he goes again. On his own. No prior notice — just a backpack.
Yang Wenyi: He said he needed to go to where his maternal grandfather came from—Jinjiang’s not far from here, right?
Yang Wenqi: Yeah. Look at that homestay by the sea —it’s got that mix of old Fujian architecture and modern woodwork. Kind of minimalist but warm.
Yang Wenyi: There is an eagerness in his face. More enthusiastic than I’ve seen him in a while.
Yang Wenqi: Must be nice to just… blend into the coast for a bit. No online lessons, no noise created by the news in Malaysia and away from those who are always talking about making more money.
Yang Wenyi: Remember what he used to say? That he would want to invest his time and effort to go back to his roots (叶落归根) instead of spending time with the rent-seekers. He would always tell us “If you want to understand where you’re going, you have to remember where you came from.”
Yang Wenqi: Cheesy, but kinda true. Especially now - after he has taken us to visit most of all the regions in China. I mean, he’s now started the deep dive. He is literally walking the path our ancestors took—just in reverse.
Yang Wenyi: And apparently, he’s not alone.
Yang Wenqi: Wait, what? Who’s that girl in the second photo?
Yang Wenyi He didn’t say much, just: “Met a young woman here. Also in tech. Asking the right questions.”
Yang Wenqi Oooh. Do I hear a story forming? Should we be jealous?
Yang Wenyi Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. But yeah… she looks just a few years older than we are.
Yang Wenqi He looks… proud in that photo. Like he’s found something meaningful to pursue. Or just being present.
Yang Wenyi We should visit Fujian again after the finals. The next visit we shall walk that same beach. But for now let's get him to share what he has discovered.

杨文漪： 老爸刚在群里发了照片。
杨文琪：那是东山岛吗？福建的，咱们祖籍那个省？
杨文漪：对。你看配文：FAQ——福建寻根之行：东山岛。。
杨文琪：他又来了。一个人说走就走，也不提前说一声——就背个包。
杨文漪：他说他要去外公的老家看看——晋江离那儿不远吧？
杨文琪：嗯。你看那家海边民宿，既有老福建建筑的味道，又融了现代木工，有点简约但很温馨。
杨文漪： 他脸上有股热切劲儿。好久没见他这么兴奋了。
杨文琪： 能这样……融进海边待一阵子，肯定很舒服。没有网课，没有马来西亚那些新闻的嘈杂，也不用听那些人总念叨着怎么多赚钱。
杨文漪： 还记得他常说的话吗？他说他宁愿把时间和心血花在叶落归根上，也不愿跟那些逐利之徒虚度。他总是跟我们讲：“要想知道将来往哪儿去，就得记住自己从哪儿来。”
杨文琪： 有点老套，但还挺有道理。尤其是现在——他带我们把中国大部分地方都走遍了。我是说，他现在已经开始深入探寻了。他在走我们先人走过的路——只不过是反过来走。
杨文漪：而且显然，他不是一个人。
杨文琪： 等等，什么？第二张照片里那个女孩是谁？
杨文漪：他没多说，就一句：“在这里遇到一位年轻女性。也是搞技术的。问的问题很对路。”
杨文琪： 哦～ 我是不是嗅到一段故事的开端？我们该吃醋吗？
杨文漪：别想太多。不过……她看起来也就比我们大几岁。
杨文琪：那张照片里他看起来……很自豪。好像找到了什么值得追求的东西。又或者只是很沉浸于当下。
杨文漪：等期末考试完，我们应该再去一次福建。下次去，就走同一片海滩。但现在先让他分享一下他的发现吧。
杨文琪： 成交。我给他发条语音。告诉他我们为他感到骄傲。
