Having watched 云南映象 Dynamic Yunnan, 杨丕源 Yang Piyuan went to the
金马碧鸡坊 Golden Horse and Jade Rooster square. He would re-visit this
historical site in 2025 CE.
The square, a popular tourist attraction, wasn't far from the
hotel. He decided to enjoy the cool weather that 昆明 Kunming - "The
City of Eternal Spring" - had to offer. With an average elevation
of about 1891 meters, the altitude made it comfortable for a
stroll.
Stepping through the 金马 Golden Horse archway on the eastern side,
he was a little taken aback to find himself in a different world.
No longer in 2014 CE, he was now surrounded by pedestrians in
ancient Chinese costumes. The clamour of the modern city had
vanished behind him.
杨丕源 Yang Piyuan had been transported back to the 明 Ming Dynasty.
It was the year 1435 CE, the first year of the reign of the 6th
Emperor, 明英宗朱祁镇 Ming Yingzong Zhu Qizhen and it was a time when
the great voyages of the Treasure Fleet had recently ended.
Looking around, he saw men dressed in 袍 páo robes and 裤 kù
trousers made of cotton. The women, on the other hand, paired
their 袄 áo upper garments with 裙 qún pleated skirts. Two men,
donning 圆领袍 yuán lǐng páo round-collar robes, stood at a corner of
the square.
They were civil officials.
Then, 杨丕源 Yang Piyuan heard the familiar "Assalamualaikum". The
Arabic phrase for "Peace be upon you" emanated from the entrance
of a tea-house to his left. He turned his head toward the source
of the sound. A Chinese man had just greeted an older person of
Arabic origin.

飞到高雄后，杨丕源乘火车去嘉义。以上照片拍摄于高雄车站 。
嘉义是通往阿里山的重要门户。阿里山森林铁路，一条有百年历史的登山铁路，从这里开始。
清朝（康熙皇帝统治时期）建立了“朱罗山”作为防御城墙。这标志着嘉义的成立。公元1787年，乾隆皇帝将嘉 义更名为嘉义，意思是“赞美正义”，以纪念其公民的忠诚。
