This year 杨丕源 Yang Piyuan celebrated half a century of life.
Interestingly, reaching this milestone in the year 2013, he had
visited 13 countries.
The trip made he made to China this year was to Macau.
Macau Special Administrative Region borders:
- 广东 Guangdong Province (珠海 Zhuhai city) to the north and west
- The South China Sea to the south and east, with maritime proximity to 香港 Hong Kong across the Pearl River Estuary
In 1557 CE, Macao was occupied by the Portuguese. In 1887 CE, the
清 Qing government and the Portuguese signed the Treaty of Peking,
handing over Macao to the western country located about 10,000 km
away from Beijing.
In 1987 CE, Portugal and China signed agreement stipulating that
Macao to be returned to China in 1999 CE.
He stayed
at the Hotel Lisbao. He was impressed by the grand chandelier at
the lobby. The sight brought him back to 1999 CE. It was the year
he visited Toronto, Canada. He had watched the chandelier fall in
the Pantages Theatre during the musical The Phantom of the Opera.
He was in Toronto for an e-learning project and was fortunate to
catch the musical before it ended its run.
Besides
the chandelier, 杨丕源 Yang Piyuan was also impressed by the
decorations in gold that adorned the hotel.
He also visited the number of casinos that have been set up there.
The Grand Lisbao which was opened in 2007 CE.
Among the food he got to taste in Macao were the well known 义顺牛奶
Yishun Milk Company 姜汁撞奶 steamed ginger milk pudding / curd and
egg pudding and Pato de Cabidela (Duck Stew). 
杨文漪： 文琪，上一期我们聊了千禧年爸爸在北京爬长城的事。时间过得真快，一转眼到了2013年。
杨文琪： 是啊姐，2013年可是个大日子。那是爸爸的知命之年——他整整50岁了！我记得那时候他发了个朋友圈，说半辈子走过了13个国家。
杨文漪： 没错。而且那一年，他又去了中国，不过这次不是大陆，而是澳门。
杨文琪： 澳门！那是他第一次去吧？他回来给我看照片的时候，我印象最深的就是那里的建筑，那种新旧交替的感觉太魔幻了。一边是中式的庙宇，一边是葡式的碎石路。
杨文漪： 这种独特的气质其实源于一段很长的历史。你知道的，早在1557年，葡萄牙人就占领了澳门。到了1887年，清朝政府和葡萄牙签了《北京条约》，把澳门交给了这个远在万里 之外的西方国家。
杨文琪： 嗯，这段历史课我可没忘。不过后来在1987年，两边又签了协议，定下了1999年回归。爸爸去的时候，澳门已经回归祖国14年了。
杨文漪： 是啊。他当时住在著名的葡京酒店（Hotel Lisboa）。你知道吗，他一进大堂就被那个巨大的水晶吊灯震撼到了。
杨文琪： 水晶吊灯？这让我想起他以前提过的另一个故事。等等，难道是…… 杨文漪： 对，就是《歌剧魅影》（The Phantom of the Opera）！那是1999年，他去加拿大多伦多做一个电子学习项目，刚好赶上《歌剧魅影》在那里的Pantages Theatre落幕。他亲眼看着那个巨大的吊灯从天而降。
杨文琪： 天哪，跨越了14年，从多伦多到澳门，两个吊灯在他心里重叠了。爸爸是不是还说，那种金碧辉煌的装饰，让他感觉像是走进了时光隧道？
杨文漪： 正是。除了葡京酒店，他还特意去看了2007年开业的新葡京（Grand Lisboa），还有那一整片纸醉金迷的赌场区。
杨文琪： （笑）说到澳门，除了这些宏伟的建筑，爸爸最惦记的肯定是吃的！我记得他回来后念叨了好久，说在义顺牛奶公司（Yishun Milk Company）喝到的姜汁撞奶和双皮奶有多正宗。
杨文漪： 那是必须的。不过他还尝试了一道很有当地特色的菜——Pato de Cabidela。
杨文琪： 诶？这葡萄牙语听起来好高级，翻译过来是什么？
杨文漪： 其实就是鸭肉焖米饭，或者说葡式血鸭。爸爸说那种味道很特别，既有香料味，又有鸭血的浓郁。
杨文琪： 听起来就很美味！看来2013年的澳门之行，不仅让爸爸回顾了历史，也让他重温了14年前在多伦多的艺术记忆，最后还填饱了肚子。
杨文漪： 是啊，50岁的生日旅行，选在澳门，真是再合适不过了。
杨文琪： 下次回家，得让爸爸再给我们讲讲他在中国旅行的故事。
